PCB Assembly Capability
Review assembly requirements against the released board and the proposed manufacturing route. The board, component mix, panel and inspection plan determine whether a build can proceed routinely or requires engineering review.
Requirements for an engineering review
| Topic | Information to supply | Decision to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Board and panel | Dimensions and thickness in mm; panel drawing and tooling requirements. | Confirm handling, support, process sequence and panel separation. |
| Component packages | Exact package and part numbers, pitch in mm and exposed-pad guidance. | Assess land patterns, solder process and visibility of joints. |
| Assembly mix | SMT, through-hole, mixed technology, connectors and mechanical parts. | Agree insertion, soldering and mechanical assembly responsibilities. |
| Acceptance | Critical features, test access, product conditions and required reports. | Confirm inspection and electrical coverage before release. |
How to confirm the applicable range
Send the current revision and the limits that matter to your product. The review should identify the responsible manufacturing site or supply partner, the agreed conditions and the approval needed for exceptions. Keep the confirmed range, source and review date with the released project records.
Release checklist
- Resolve conflicting notes or units before the order is released.
- Confirm whether the requirement is routine, requires an engineering trial or is outside the proposed scope.
- Agree inspection or verification evidence and the owner of unresolved design decisions.
